We are delighted to be showcasing Eleanor Angelinetta's exciting new series of paintings which are being exhibited for the first time at Talented Art Fair 2020!
Talented Art Fair Director Oliver Norris caught up with Eleanor to get a better insight into her art life and creation process.

1) Your paintings are of an extremely high standard considering how long you have been exhibiting, but when did you actually start creating artwork?

Although I remember creating artwork as a young child, it wasn’t my main interest. I’d say compared to many other people I was a late starter. Throughout school I studied art but I was initially interested far more in science. It wasn’t until I studied for my A Levels that I decided to go with what I really loved – creating art. I had some amazing art teachers who were extremely encouraging and my school allowed me to dedicate a lot of extra time to the arts and gave me a huge number of extra opportunities.

2) What was your first entry in London's art world and what did you gain from that experience?

I remember it very well. 2016 was the year I entered London’s art world. I had moved to London during the summer to start my Masters Degree at the Slade after graduating from Edinburgh. I exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery during the summer and soon after that had the opportunity to participate in a group exhibition with DegreeArt Gallery. At the opening I was approached by a couple asking me to present more work at a Science and Art Event at Burlington House the next night.
These were fabulous opportunities for me and it was in many ways quite a shock. Thankfully I was used to discussing my work to some extent at University, however I really had to work on my confidence speaking to a wider audience about my work; learning to accept both criticism and praise. I also learnt to expect the unexpected!

3) How have you developed your style, who have you learned from and how have they helped you?

Experimentation is a key. I have learnt that the most important thing is to create what I want, not what I feel I should as I don’t want it to be contrived simply to appear ‘different’. My style will continue to develop throughout my life, responding to events, emotions and circumstances. I feel that everyone I have encountered; in the art world, education sector, family and in everyday life has taught me something. Everyone has something to give if we take time to observe and listen.

4) What would be your ideal Solo Show and where would you like it to be held?

I would obviously like to exhibit in a wide variety of settings to see how my work communicates with the surroundings. I love the idea of exhibiting in a ‘shabby chic’ industrial / Parisian space where my bold work contrasts with flaking paint, crumbling plaster and bright antique furniture.

5) Could you tell us about your creation process and how you decide which mediums you are going to use?

This process is quite difficult for me. Due to the varied nature of my practice I regard myself as a multi media artist. My role cannot be defined as a painter, printmaker, sculptor or photographer. When deciding on a medium I will often experiment and weigh up which qualities best match the subject.

6) As a busy person and successful artist, can you tell us what is your usual weekly schedule?

Perhaps it’s creativity…but I have a bizarre sleeping pattern! Each and every day comes with a new challenge. If I over plan and try to be regimented I find I am less productive. Like everything, it’s all about balance.

7) What have you got planned for the Talented Art Fair in March 2020?

This year is my third time at Talented Art Fair. I am bringing a brand new body of work – my ‘Floating Still Life’ series, which has never seen light away from my studio.

8) What advice would you give to artists starting out or trying to break through to the bigger stage?

Be YOU! Don’t try to create a mould and then fight to fit yourself into it.
